Black Square Around Navel Piercing?

Theres a little black square above my top ball of the ring
Just the edges are black..its not like solid black
Ive had my belly button pierced for 6 days and it hasnt gone away
It appeared a few hours after my piercing
Probably about 1/2 cm
I cant really tell what it is..it almost looks like scab-ish stuff but you think it would go away by now
and I dont know why it would be square...you think it would at least be a circle
My piercings doing great..no signs of infection
I clean it twice a day do sea salt soaks once a day and spray it with H2Ocean a few times a day
Could it have anything to do with the fact that i cleaned it right when i got home from getting it pierced?
I just cant figure out what it is and how to get rid of it?

A couple of things come to mind - the jewelry is silver and it is oxidizing (not likely), it is a mark from the pen and the piercer used a sharpie, or it is a mark of sorts from the clamp.

Pics would help.

Relax on the cleaning. Twice a day is enough, overcleaning can be bad.

It could be bruising too, does it look like bruising?

sorry i tried taking pics but you couldnt even see it
my ring is stainless steel in case anyone was wondering
i know its not from the sharpie and it could be from the clamp but i dont think it would last that long because i got it done a week ago today
and nope no bruising

Is it a ring or a curved barbell? (This has nothing to do with the mark but just curious is all)

As for the mark, it just sounds so odd...not that it appears to be harming the piercing. I would pop back over to the piercer and ask whats up.

yeah sorry i called it a ring before!!

i know its so weird i cant find any familiar descriptions on the internet! so if anyone has had this happen or has any ideas please let me know!

I'm betting that it's a mark from the clamp. Sometimes the teeth on the clamps can abrade the skin enough to cause tiny scabs.

It's only been a week...in another week it should be gone.

finally it went away!
im betting that it was from the clamp. i didnt realize that the clamp had little teeth and now that i think of it i bet thats exactly what it was!
